An Official Preliminary to the Miss Texas/ Miss America Organization Platform Inspiring Children to Improve the World through Education Why inspiring children is so important. It was Anne Frank who once said, "How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting  to improve the world."  While many improvements can be made to the world we live in, I believe that one of the most important issues inspiring our  children.  Education is the foundation for all that we do in our lives.  Children need more role models to inspire and promote an appreciation of learning.   This would include academics as well as the arts.    Children learn and appreciate by example.  They look up and admire other individuals in sports, entertainment and politics.  All children share a  particular admiration for TV characters, Actors, Musicians and of course Pageant Queens.  The Miss Teen Texas Pageant is known for its efforts to  promote a variety of platform issues that are important to youth today.  The recipient of the title, "Miss Teen Texas" will receive an extraordinary  opportunity to use her title and resources to promote a platform issue near and dear to her heart.  Past efforts and positive effects.Throughout my career in pageantry and in my academic life I have developed many relationships within my  community, school and church.  I plan to use my title step in to doors that I have already opened with local businesses, government officials and other  volunteer organizations.  I would like to represent the Miss Teen Texas Organization by speaking at public events within my community and across the  states while spreading the message that education can take you anywhere you want to go in life and help every single person achieve their goals.  I  would also like visit various schools and community centers and speak to young children about my experiences in pageantry and the fulfillment that  education and artistic enrichment can provide.    Over the past several months I have participated in back to school back pack stuffers, holiday events and parades.  This has given me the opportunity to  get out in the community and discuss my dreams and how I am achieving them through education with youth of all ages.  At the same time I have been  able to meet and work with people such as our local Mayor and her staff.  I have worked side by side with community service volunteers and public  servants working toward making Euless a better place to live for families and their children.  We have inspired many children who cannot afford to  purchase adequate schools supplies by participating in back pack stuffers designed just for our youth.  I have participated in vacation bible school  programs featuring myself dressed up as a dinosaur in a play where the focus and message was on education, self-esteem and goals.  A grass roots effort achieved through Miss Teen Texas   It my dream to take my efforts a step further and reach out to children in communities throughout this state.  Story hour with Miss Teen Texas at several   public libraries; working with a Communities Parks and Recreation Department to hold a play in which children just learning to read can debut and gain an  appreciation of the arts and boost their self esteem.  Publicity for events can be communicated through community magazines, newspapers and flyers.   These are just a couple of examples how I would inspire our children to learn while promoting Miss Teen Texas.  I can't wait to get started!  Megan Alexandra Gibson
